ACCESSIBILITY & INCLUSIVITY

Lodge One at the Farmstead is a designated accessible Lodge, with conveniently located parking adjacent to the Lodge itself, and seconds from the entrance to the Lodge via a ramp for wheelchair access. All rooms are across one level offering ease of access and the bathroom features railings to assist with bathing support.

All eight Lodges are across one level and are spacious and are adaptable to suit specific accessible requirements.

The veranda and outside spaces are also accessible by ramp, and we aim to make every stay as comfortable as possible including for guests with sensory requirements who may benefit from the peaceful, natural setting.

The pathways surrounding the Farmstead are composed of shingle and include areas with uneven surfaces. We’re happy to discuss any individual accessibility requirements ahead of your visit, and our dedicated team is on hand to help plan and prepare accordingly.

Easton Grange, our on-site wedding and events venue, is also fully accessible and ideal for inclusive retreats and celebrations.

We are continually improving the user experience on our website for everyone, including accessibility standards and access.

This website has been designed to the accessibility guidelines detailed by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as part of their Web Accessibility Initiative.

Our ultimate goal is for the whole site to be compliant with the highest WCAG accessibility standards.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The Farmstead is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

The Farmstead website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

• all major browsers including Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Microsoft Edge on Apple & Android systems.

The Farmstead website is not compatible with:

• browsers older than 3 major versions” or “Mobile operating systems older than 5 year

Accessibility of The Farmstead website relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of The Farmstead website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions.

The Farmstead assessed the accessibility of The Farmstead website by the following approaches:

• Automated evaluation with Google Lightspeed accessibility test
• Automated evaluation with Axe Developer Tools accessibility test

The Farmstead website achieves a green performance indicator on Google Lightspeed accessibility test (26/9/24). Axe  automated testing (26/9/24) identified a number of errors all related to an Alt tag issue on placeholder images. This has been investigated and is a false positive, as all of the report errors relate to background images that do not require Alt tags and should be ignored by readers (more information can be found here).
